PLASTIC PRODUCTION AT BRAGHA

Bragha GH LTD since its establishment in 2001, has been in the business plastic manufacturing for various individuals and sectors. The company has extruders and other plastic machinery with the capacity to produce high standard quality products. With expertise and machinery, we transform base polymers into useful finished products. We produce water rolls, trash bags, carrier bags, hand gloves, laboratory spacemen bags and zip-lock bags. With the increase in population and demand, Bragha is putting up measures to increase productivity.

RECYCLING AT BRAGHA

Bragha has machinery for recycling plastic wastes. Though sourcing of dry plastic wastes is low, we have the capacity to recycle 1000 kg/day of plastics on a batch process. These wastes are usually collected from other factories and individuals.

Toahouse LLC

Toahouse LLC is an incentive and social benefit venture that uses plastic bottles to build houses, furniture and provide alternative innovative environmental solutions using plastic waste. The operations are based on a bespoke and complete plastic recovery, collection and recycling. We create environmental sustainability through an incentive model. Founded in 2017 the project implementation plan has traveled on various phases from organized or private sector institutions and companies with the aim of penetrating into the informal sector. Some of our recycling model projects are; The National Senior High School plastic recovery program, The Laudato Si Ghana Recycling Project (A Roman Catholic Church Recycling Initiative), The Segregation and Recycling Program (for hotels & restaurants).

Currently we recover between 90 – 120 tons of PET, HDPE, PP plastic waste per month through our models from the environment for recycling. From the plastic waste, we produce Plastic Lumbers which we use to manufacture ECO Furniture i.e. School Desks, Pallets, Door & Window Frames for building construction and Plaster Boards for house Roofing. Toahouse can boast of 10 core employees, 30 factory hands and over 50 direct and indirect suppliers.

Polygreen Limited, a sister company of Polytex Industries Limited, Polypet Limited and Polyprint & Trading Limited was incorporated on 13th March 2019. It is a Ghanaian - Indian partnership established to process plastic waste into granules and other plastic packaging products. Nelplast Eco Ghana Limited is an Integrated Environmental and Social Impacting Solutions Company located at Katamanso near Ashaiman (a suburb of Tema) in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. A company that started as a plastic recycling and production company in 2013 (i.e. Nelplast Ghana Ltd) producing poly bags primarily to feed the demand for convenient carrier bags. It has evolved to become a change agent; a social and green-environment advocate, involved in the production of the acclaimed “Eco Bricks”. This vision also sits firmly in the country’s quest to be a champion of cleanliness in Africa. The aim of Nelplast Eco Ghana is to rid the country of the gulf of plastic waste that is polluting the environment and water bodies, securing job opportunities for the local collectors whilst advancing the global sustainable agenda of the United Nations SDGs.

Today, Nelplast Eco Ghana employs 74 direct workers and over 300 indirect workers as plastic waste collectors and aggregators. Current production capacity is 1,000 units of 12x12 inches bricks (or 3,000units of 8x4inches bricks) per day, using 2,000 kgs of plastic waste daily. Apart from building houses, the 12x12 inches EcoBrick is also used in the construction of roads, car parking lots and residential compounds. Our current project under construction are 11 houses i.e. 6 units of two-bedroom and 5 units of three-bedroom, using about 18 tons of plastic waste for the 2-bedroom building and 22 tons of waste for the 3 bedroom building. Nelplast Eco Ghana has received a number of local and International recognitions and continue to contribute to the global thought-leadership fora and agenda both home and abroad, sharing its innovation on environmental impact with Governments, Civil Society and Real Estate Businesses on the need to place emphasis on issues of the environment.
